About Damian

Dr Damian C. Crowther MA BM BCh PhD MRCP

Damian is a Principal Investigator in the University of Cambridge, Department of Genetics and Affiliated Principal Investigator at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, Addenbrooke's Site, Hills Road, Cambridge.

Damian has had a life-long interest in biomedical science, graduating with the top first in his class in Natural Sciences in Cambridge, he went on to complete a PhD in the molecular biology of the serine protease inhibitor superfamily of proteins. He then attended the Clinical School at Oxford University. Gaining the Hobson Memorial Scholarship for Clinical Medicine he graduated in 1995. Completing house jobs in Oxford and Barrow-in-Furness he then spent two happy years on the medical SHO rotation at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham. Following this he returned to Cambridge as an Honorary Registrar in Neurology, combining hospital work with laboratory research.

In 2015 he was appointed Director, R&D, AstraZeneca Neuroscience based in Cambridge, UK.

Damian has also had a life-long interest in computing. He started his first computer software company at the age of 15 and has been involved in developing patient record software for use in General Practice. He has taken a lead in the design and development of this site.
