There are several options here:
- pudendal block (low forceps, suturing), requires 15 minutes to work
- paracervical block - rarely used due to problems involving injection of the fetus
- extradural block:
- caudal - problems with sterility, patchy and large amounts of local anaesthetic needed
- epidural
- spinal analgesia
