Indications for an OGD include:

  • haematemesis
  • melaena
  • exclusion or diagnosis of:
    • upper GI carcinoma
    • peptic ulcers
  • dysphagia
  • ingestion of a foreign body
  • dyspepsia
  • pyloric obstruction
