This is the inflammation of the endothelium which lines the myocardium and the heart valves.
The main types of endocarditis are:
- infective endocarditis
- endocarditis associated with rheumatic fever
- nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis
- Libman-Sacks endocarditis
