• superior:
• arch of aorta - arching posteriorly
• left brachiocephalic vein
• inferior:
• aortic valve
• left ventricle
• left: pulmonary trunk - passing from anterior to posterior
• posterior:
• transverse sinus
• superior vena cava
• anterior:
• and inferior: auricle of right atrium
• thymic remnants
• manubrium and body of sternum
