ascites (exudate)

Exudate ascites is defined as ascites with a protein content of greater than 3g protein per 100ml of fluid.
Possible causes of exudate ascites include:
- malignant disease
- pyogenic infection
- tuberculosis
- pancreatitis
- lymphoedema
- myxoedema
