diagnostic criteria

A diagnosis of adult Still's disease requires five of the following criteria, including two or more major criteria:

  • major criteria:
    • fever of 39 deg.C.
    • arthralgia
    • typical rash
      • salmon-pink, maculopapular, evanescent, pruritic
    • neutrophil leukocytosis
  • þ minor criteria:

      • sore throat
      • lymphadenopathy +/- splenomegaly
      • liver dysfunction
      • negative rheumatoid factor and anti-nuclear factor

    The serum ferritin level is usually grossly elevated.

    Exclusions:

    • infection
    • malignancy
    • rheumatic disease
