Possible causes of vomiting in infancy include:
- infection - including tonsillitis, otitis media, pneumonia, meningitis and urinary tract infection
- gastrointestinal tract obstructions, which may occassionally present after the early neonatal period, especially volvulus associated with gut malrotation
- gastro-oesophageal reflux
- cow's milk intolerence
- rumination
- infantile pyloric stenosis
- pylorospasm
- gastroenteritis
- malabsorption
- intestinal obstruction
- incarcerated or strangulated hernias
- poisons or drugs
- raised intracranial pressure or brain tumour
