clinical features

  • characterised by large, dark scales predominantly on the extensor surfaces but also may involve the limb flexures. The ears, neck and scalp are often affected; the palms and soles are spared. The dark colouration of the scales gives a "dirty appearance"

  • corneal opacities may be seen in affected males and carrier females by slit-lamp examination
  • atopy is rare
