Contraindications include:

• beta-blockers
• hypotension
• bradycardia
• second and third degree heart block
• sick sinus syndrome
• cardiogenic shock
• ventricular tachycardia
• a history of heart failure or impaired function
• atrial flutter or fibrillation in Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome
• porphyria
