amoxicillin

Amoxicillin is a derivative of ampicillin which is better absorbed, producing higher plasma and tissue concentrations, and whose absorption if not affected by the presence of food in the gut.

Cautions:

• history of allergy
• renal impairment
• RASHES COMMON IN GLANDULAR FEVER AND IN CHRONIC LYMPHATIC LEUKAEMIA

Contra-indications:

• penicillin hypersensitivity

Side-effects:

• nausea
• diarrhoea
• rashes
• pseudomembranous colitis

• oral
• capsules
• suspensions
• i.m. injection
• i.v. injection
• i.v. infusion
