hypersensitivity reactions (Type II)
Last reviewed 11/2023
In this form of hypersensitivity, the antibody that is produced in response to challenge with an antigen i.e. IgG or IgM becomes fixed to the surface of circulating blood elements.
The hypersensitivity reaction takes place intravascularly.
An example of this type of hypersensitivity reaction is seen in adverse reactions to blood transfusions.
