cardiovascular (CV) syphilis

This condition appears 20 or more years post-infection.
It is characterised by:
- aortitis, with aortic aneurysms, usually in the ascending part of the aorta
- aortic valvulitis with consequent regurgitation
- stenosis of the coronary ostia
