Hyperprolactinaemia in women may present with:

  • amenorrhoea, oligomenorrhoea or regular anovulatory cycles (1)
  • galactorrhoea
  • breast pain
  • breast enlargement
  • infertility
  • hirsutism - there also may be an associated weight gain
  • loss of libido

In men hyperprolactinaemia may present with:

  • impotence
  • loss of libido
  • decrease in seminal fluid volume
  • galactorrhoea and gynaecomastia can occur
