Scanning dysarthria is the term used to describe the manner of speech of someone with a cerebellar lesion.
It is jerky, explosive, slurred and loud, with separated syllables.
The problem is with moving from one noise to another because of the ataxic larynx.
Good phrases with which to bring out scanning dysarthria are:
- university - emphasis appears on "si" here
- hippopotamus
- British constitution
- West Register Street
