cardiotocographic dips

There are two types of dip - where the foetal heart rate falls as a result of uterine contraction - seen in cardiotocography.
- type I dip:
- the foetal heart rate falls with the contraction and immediately recovers when the contraction in over
- type II dip:
- the foetal heart rate falls with the contraction and then takes a considerable time to recover after the contraction has ceased
- may indicate that intervention is required
