drug-induced chronic active hepatitis

Drug induced chronic hepatitis is a rare and idiosyncratic response to specific agent. There are some similarities to autoimmune chronic active hepatitis with auto-antibodies positive in many patients.

The hepatitis usually resolves upon withdrawal of the drug.

Drugs which have been implicated include:

  • isoniazid
  • methyldopa
  • nitrofurantoin
  • oxyphenisatin
  • dantrolene
