radiological appearance of aortic regurgitation

Features include:
- cardiomegaly - left ventricular dilatation
- occasionally there is mild left atrial enlargement
- occasionally the aortic valve may be calcified
- a prominence of the ascending aorta caused by dilatation
- often features of pulmonary venous hypertension are absent until late in the coarse of the disease
