Dose related, type A or augmented side effects account for the majority of adverse drug reactions, and are in theory avoidable by getting the right dose, as long as there are disparate dose response curves for therapeutic and side effects. Some series suggest that these types of side effect account for 80 to 90% of adverse drug reactions. They can be grouped into three types of variation:
- pharmaceutical
- pharmacokinetic
- pharmacodynamic
