The lateral costotransverse ligament is one of a group of ligaments passing between a rib and its corresponding vertebra:
- attached to the lateral facet of the tubercle of a given rib on each side
- passes posterolaterally to attach to the tip of the transverse process of the corresponding thoracic vertebra on the same side
- it reinforces the costotransverse joints
