clinical features common to all forms of diabetes

Clinical features that may occur in all forms of diabetes mellitus include:
- polydipsia
- polyuria, with associated nocturia or enuresis
- glycosuria
Notes:
- in type II diabetes may/may not have osmotic symptoms (polyuria, polydipsia) at time of diagnosis. Diagnosis of diabetes can occur without symptoms with an HbA1c of 48 mmol/l or more on two occasions without osmotic symptoms - this often is the diagnostic presentation with patients with type II diabetes.
