Risk factors for perinatal mortality include:
- parity, given with its respective mortality figures: para 0 - 10.2; para 2 - 8.8; para 3+ - 12.6 per 1000 births
- maternal age - highest risk under age 20 and over age 35
- social class, given with its respective mortality figures: classes 1&2 - 7.6; classes 4+5 - 11.5 per 1000 births
- low birth weight infants: very strong correlation between birth weight and mortality rate
- prematurity
- post-maturity
- forceps delivery
- poor antenatal care
- precipitate labour
- breech delivery
