clinical features

  • orbital pain - especially in rapidly growing malignant tumours.

  • proptosis - may develop rapidly within weeks or a few months in malignant lesions, or gradually in more benign tumours

  • lid swelling and distortion

  • eye movements - may be limited for mechanical reasons and result in diplopia

  • reduced visual acuity - from direct involvement of the optic nerve or retina, or indirectly, from occlusion of vascular structures
