Meissner's Corpuscles

Last reviewed 01/2018

Meissner's Corpuscles are dermal neural-derivatives involved in the transduction of vibration and touch. An incoming afferent nerve cell loses its myelinated coat and winds around an encapsulated array of modified Schwann cells.

Alike Panician Corpuscles, they are concentrated at areas of greatest sensitivity e.g. the hands and feet.
