class I drugs in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation

Flecainide is effective in reducing the recurrence of symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Adverse effects are common but usually tolerable. There is concern about increased mortality with flecainide especially following myocardial infarction.
Propafenone may also be effective in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
