The ventricular pre-excitation of the WPW syndrome has three characteristics:

  • a PR interval of less than 0.12 sec in sinus rhythm
  • a wide QRS of greater than 0.10 sec
  • initial slurring of the QRS

A short PR without widening or slurring of the QRS suggests pre-ventricular excitation of the Lown-Ganong-Levine type.
