isolated limb perfusion

Last reviewed 07/2022

Isolated limb perfusion for malignant melanoma:

  • may be indicated if the disease is extensive and confined to one limb
  • may be indicated for local recurrence
  • uses chemotherapy, particularly under hyperthermic conditions, to provide palliation and limb salvage
  • allows very high doses of chemotherapy to be delivered to the melanoma site with no systemic toxicity
