amiodarone in cardiac resuscitation

Amiodarone may be given in ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmias, and may be used in the control of atrial fibrillation, in particular, in patients with poor ventricular function.
Ideally, it should be given centrally.
Cautionary factors include heart block, severe left ventricular dysfunction, thyroid dysfunction and renal impairment. It potentiates the effects of warfarin and digoxin.
Contraindications include previous reaction to amiodarone.
