Diabetics may get various types of neuropathy including:

• a sensory diffuse polyneuropathy - the most common form
• painful diabetic neuropathy
• mononeuropathies
• autonomic neuropathy
• mononeuritis multiplex

There is evidence that tight glucose control prevents the development of diabetic neuropathy.
