left fibrous trigone (heart, anatomy)

The left fibrous trigone of the heart is a collagenous thickening of the most inferior point of the fibrous skeleton attached to the left posterior leaflet of the aortic valve. It also forms a point of attachment for part of the fibrous skeleton of the mitral valve:

• most of the anterior leaflet of the mitral valve
• the fila coronaria, a fibrous band extending around the mitral valve orifice
