skin tags
Last reviewed 01/2018
Skin tags are common, skin-coloured pedunculated lesions. They are benign, although they may cause aesthetic problems or catch on clothing.
They are occasionally familial and rarely associated with tuberous sclerosis, acanthosis nigricans, acromegaly and diabetes. On the anus, they may indicate Crohn's disease.
The treatment of skin tags involves minor surgical excision or freezing with liquid nitrogen.
