necrobiosis lipoidica (NL)

This is a dermatological condition that is associated with diabetes mellitus in 50% of cases. It occurs in women three times more frequently than in men, usually in young adults or in early adult life.

• affects about 0.3-1.2% of diabetic patients, the majority of whom have type 1 diabetes (2)
