anterior left superior mediastinum

Within the superior mediastinum, the following structures are positioned anteriorly and to the left of the aortic arch:

• left superior intercostal vein
• left phrenic nerve
• left vagus nerve
• left internal thoracic vein
• left internal thoracic artery
• left inferior cervical cardiac branch of the vagus nerve
• left superior cervical ganglia sympathetic fibres to the heart
