bacterial stomatitis

A degree of bacterial stomatitis commonly accompanies a sore throat due to Streptococcus.

Otherwise bacterial stomatitis is uncommon. Examples include:

  • Vincent's angina

  • tuberculous stomatitis
    • very rare
    • appears as a shallow ulcer

  • syphilitic stomatitis
    • primary syphilis appears as a chancre
    • secondary syphilis appears as a snail-track ulcer
