behavioural responses

Behavioural responses to decrease relative warmth in Man include:

  • reduction of movement: reduced heat production from muscle metabolism
  • reduced food intake: less heat production from the metabolism of food
  • wear less clothes: fewer layers to insulate body heat
  • increase fluid intake: increases water for evaporative heat loss
  • applying cold water to skin: bathing, showering increase conduction of heat away from skin
  • move out of direct sunlight: away from heat source
