contraindications of different coexisting conditions

Urinary incontinence:

  • alpha blockers are contraindicated (1)

Gout:

  • diuretics may precipitate gout

Heart failure:

  • rate-limiting calcium antagonists are contraindicated

Heart block

  • beta-blockers and rate-limiting calcium antagonists are contraindicated

Asthma and COPD:

  • beta blockers are contraindicated

Peripheral vascular disease:

  • beta blockers; ACE inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor antagonists are used with caution because of an association with renal artery stenosis

Renal artery stenosis:

  • ACE inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor antagonists are contraindicated
