Parkinsonian gait

A parkinsonism gait is the manner of walking that is seen in patients with parkinsonism.
Characteristics of this gait are:
- hesitation in starting: akinesia
- small, shuffling, hurried steps: 'marche a petit pas'
- festination
- lack of normal arm swing
- kinesia paradoxica
With the aid of a walking frame, the parkinsonian patient is often able to initiate a normal walking cycle.
