wrist pain

Last reviewed 01/2018

Wrist pain is a fairly common symptom. Often the patient can identify an exact spot where there is localized tenderness. Five conditions in the wrist are associated with point tenderness. These are:

  • de Quervain's disease
  • an old scaphoid fracture
  • carpometacarpal osteoarthritis
  • Kienbock's disease
  • tenosynovitis of the extensors

Wrist pain may also be associated with rheumatoid arthritis, ganglia, tuberculosis and ulnar nerve compression.
