MEN IIB differs from the more common MEN IIA by the earlier onset of symptoms.

The features of MEN IIB consist of:

  • medullary carcinoma of the thyroid
  • phaeochromocytoma
  • mucosal neuromata of the lips, eyelids and tongue
  • ganglioneuromatosis of the bowel
  • marfanoid habitus
  • proximal myopathy
