strategies for keeping up-to-date
Last reviewed 01/2018
The following strategies have been shown to work in keeping practitioners up-to-date:
- learn how to practice evidence-based medicine
- look for and apply evidence-based medicine reviews
- apply evidence-based guidelines developed by colleagues
- use clinical audit and feedback to find out what you're doing (right or wrong)
- seek advice from a respected teacher who has learned EBM
- have visits from non-commercial experts to inform and encourage evidenced-based ways of caring for patients
- take a mini-sabbatical or preceptorship somewhere where EBM is practised
