Association (ADA) Clinical Practice Recommendations:
- 4·4-6·7 mmol L , 'good';
- > 6·7-7·8 mmol L , 'acceptable';
- > 7·8 mmol L , 'bad'
- the British Diabetes Association has defined target
values for fasting blood glucose levels as:
- fasting blood glucose levels of 4-7 mmol/litre
- self monitored blood glucose levels before meals of between 4 and 7 mmol/l
- JBS 2 suggests optimal target for glycaemic control in diabetes is a fasting or pre-prandial glucose value of 4.0–6.0 mmol/ l (1)
