The patient is seated with the shoulder relaxed by the side, the elbow flexed to 90 degrees and the shoulder internally rotated with the forearm across the abdomen. The anterior joint line of the shoulder is then identified by palpation whilst internally and externally rotating the shoulder. A point 1cm inferior and 1cm lateral to the coracoid process is then identified and the needle introduced and directed gently towards to anterior joint line.
