• autoantibodies against non-histone nuclear proteins involved in transcription processes are typical in myositis, antibodies to Mi-2 are more specific
  • found more frequently in dermatomyositis than polymyositis
  • presence of antibodies to Mi-2 has been correlated with a good response to treatment
