Non Pharmacological treatment

  • Good sleep hygiene and habits
    • sleep in a quiet, comfortable and cool environment
    • sticking to a regular sleep pattern - going to bed late and waking up late
    • avoid caffeine and alcohol consumption before going to bed (1)
    • regular moderate exercise (excessive exercise may exacerbate symptoms) (2)
    • abstinence from caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol (2)
    • during an attack, following methods may be helpful
    • walking and stretching
    • bathing in hot or cold water
    • relaxation exercises
    • mental distraction at times of rest
    • massaging affected limbs (1,2)
