risk factors for knee pain

Predisposing factors for knee pain include:

  • female gender
  • abnormal knee anatomy
  • joint laxity
  • muscle imbalance
  • prior injury
  • obesity
  • occupation - specially in workers whose lower limbs are more heavily loaded e.g. - shipyard workers, firemen, farm labourers and construction workers
  • exercise related - vigorous physical training specially running (1)
