• chyluria is the presence of chyle in the urine stream, which results in urine appearing milky white
  • chyluria is often caused by filariasis due to the parasite Wuchereria bancroft
    
    
  • non-parasitic chyluria is a very rare condition most frequently seen in patients with malignancies, following surgical interventions or abdominal trauma or due to congenital malformations of the lymphatic system
    
    
  • differential diagnosis of milky urine includes pyuria, lipiduria and phosphaturia
