- acute myocardial infarction
- cholangitis
- choelcystitis
- diabetic ketoacidoosis
- gastric outlet obstruction
- intestinal infarction
- pancreatic cancer
- perforated peptic ulcer
Other causes of raised serum amylase are:
- renal failure
- macroamylasaemia
- diseases of the salivary glands
- extrapancreatic abdominal diseases associated with inflammation
- e.g. - acute appendicitis, cholecystitis, intestinal obstruction or ischemia, peptic ulcer, and gynecological diseases
