bunyavirus types and syndromes

Bunyaviruses can be mosquito-borne and cause:
- many mild fever, rash, myalgia/arthralgia and lymphadenopathy syndromes
- California, Inkoo, Jamestown Canyon, La Crosse, Tahyna an Snowshoe hare viruses which can cause encephalitis
Phleboviruses are transmitted by sandflies and cause:
- Sandfly fever
- Rift Valley fever (encephalitis)
Nairoviruses are tick-borne and cause:
- Crimea-Congo haemorrhagic fever
Hantaviruses are spread by rodents and cause:
- Korean haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (Hantaan virus)
Severe fever with thrombocytopaenia syndrome (SFTS) is caused by the SFTS virus (SFTSV), also known as Huaiyangshan banyangvirus, in the order Bunyavirales (bunyavirus), genus phlebovirus (2)
- SFTS is a tick-borne zoonosis, but human-to-human can also occur
