SEGMENTS ONE AND TWO
The apicoposterior bronchopulmonary segment of the left lung is actually the regions of both the apical and posterior bronchopulmonary segments before they diverge. Sometimes, it is considered as a separate segment as it is supplied by a distinct tertiary bronchus: the apicoposterior segmental bronchus.
This segmental bronchus does not exist in the right superior lobe; on the right, the apical and posterior segmental bronchi arise directly as tertiary bronchi from the right superior lobar bronchus.
