toxicity and drug interactions

- nausea, vomiting, malaise, faintness and skin rashes have been reported.
- adverse effects associated with prostaglandin administration: nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
- adverse effects associated with the combination of gemeprost and mifepristone include abdominal pain from uterine contraction and uterine haemorrhage. The abdominal pain usually responds to paracetamol. Less than 1% of women require a transfusion or an emergency evacuation of the uterus to control vaginal bleeding.
- avoid aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs because they inhibit prostaglandin synthetase and therefore have a theoretical risk of reduction of efficacy.
